Getting back into running (again)

Getting back into running (again)

I’m not a runner. I never have been. I go through phases of being dedicated and running two to three times a week and phases of getting home, lying on the couch, watching tv, and certainly not even thinking about running. So why I signed up for a five mile Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving is kind of a mystery.

My running usually tapers off around this time as I’m switching gears back into hockey, but since I’m playing less hockey these days, I’m going to make a concerted effort to keep up with running and run a decent pace next at next month’s race.

I use Strava (highly recommend) to track my pace and log routes. Below is a screenshot of some of the stats the app tracks.

To pass the time on longer runs, I skip music and opt to listen to podcasts.  Podcasts like The Moth, This American Life, and TED Radio Hour are my favorite to listen to while I run.
